Digital Competency

Every company today is embarking on a journey of “Digital Transformation”. It is the process of using digital technologies to create new (or modify existing) business processes, culture and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements. These new technologies include Analytics, Internet of Things (IOT), Cloud, Big Data, Machine Learning, Automation and Blockchain. A few developments have enabled (and nudged) companies to make the leap to digital: massive gains in technological capabilities, changes in customer behaviour (and expectations), and a high degree of “long tail” customizations.

Companies are under pressure to integrate the above new technologies and create new experiences for their customers, partners and employees. It is now possible to deliver information faster, smoother and more accurately than ever before. Unprecedented amounts of data are being generated daily in almost every business scenario and these have to be stored, accessed, and analyzed to deliver actionable insights without delay. To add to the challenges faced by established businesses, they now also have to compete with start-ups that were “born digital”. Going ‘digital’ is not optional anymore; it has become a necessity for survival.

In this context, managers need to add to their repertoire of existing business skills a new one: digital savvy. This workshop seeks to address this need. It starts with demystifying the jargon of all matters Digital. Participants learn about all the concepts, capabilities and limitations of the various digital technologies available today. They will understand what it takes to improve their business from the data they already have or will need to collect. The workshop includes a class project that they will work on as a team that will identify two opportunities for digitalization in their own businesses.

This workshop has the following learning objectives:

  • Understand data, its attributes and what it can do
  • Understand the different digital technologies that are prevalent today
  • Learn what is possible with each of these technologies with the help of case studies
  • Visualize what technologies are relevant to their particular businesses
  • Understand what is needed to make the transition to ‘Digital’
  • Identify at least two digitalization opportunities in their business and develop action plans

Who should attend?
