It is widely known that success in Project Management depends on effective Planning, excellence in execution and active Monitoring and Control (which includes Risk Identification and Management). However, a frequently overlooked and poorly understood area is the proper identification, analysis and management of project stakeholders. Stakeholders include those who are affected by a project, facilitate its completion and participate in it.
Studies show that engaging stakeholders is a frequently cited reason for project success (and failure). Understanding who matter, how they can impede or assist a project’s progress, what their motivations and attitudes are, and engaging with them effectively are key in ensuring that a project is successful and that its solution is properly accepted and used.
The Stakeholder Management workshop addresses this critical area of Project Management. The program, spread over two days, takes the participants through Stakeholder Identification, Analysis, Planning for Stakeholder Management, as well as modules in Influencing Stakeholders and Negotiating with Stakeholders. The workshop will contain presentations and facilitated discussions. The program’s workbook will contain several exercises and activities to anchor key concepts for every module. To make the learning effective and the program useful, likely behavioural challenges in projects will be addressed through case studies, role-plays and debriefs. Workshop participants will be given tools and templates to use in their projects.
